 WHY  ETHIOPIA

For several centuries the population of this country has been mainly rural. Agriculture remains the basic economy of the country . Methodes and techniques are still traditional, especially in rural areas. Theses methodes allow for little development due to the lack of simple technical knowledge resulting in rural depopulation and proliferation in the suburbs of the big cities.

These techniques concern the improvement of irrigation, the rationalisation of the use enrichment of land which will an allow an increase in the yields of existing farming as well as the lack of the new small farm machinery. The consequence of this lack of means and knowledge in the occurrence, on numerous occasion during these last years, of famines due amongst other things to drought, cousing considerable domage to the population and their animals.

In 2006, this situation is still current. In order to avoid the recurrence of such famine, Association TANA  proposes, through a system of technical training in agriculture and livestock farming, to train young individuals living in the countryside and allow then to acquire improved farming mehods whit better yields and to set up system for the stocking of seed which will prvide for harvests of the following years.

In the order to achieve this goal, Association TANA  plans to have recouse to other association like AGIR which groups together retired technicians who offer their services as advisers in their various specialities.
